About The Area

Methven is a small town in the Canterbury region of the South Island of New Zealand. Methven is the closest town to Mount Hutt ski fields, only around half an hour away. Methven is approximately one hour from Christchurch airport.

Mount Hutt is home to a commercial alpine ski area, its summit is 2190 metres above sea level. It is one of New Zealand's largest ski areas with some of the best natural snow around.

Methven is a delightful township for out of ski season visits to use as a base for fishing, golf or sightseeing expeditions around the South Island.
